Flag football is a fast paced, non-contact version of traditional football that empathizes agility, strategy, and teamwork. Instead of tackling, players pull flags from an opponent’s belt to stop the play, making it safer alternative while still maintaining the excitement of the game. With a focus on speed, quick decision-making, and skillful play, flag football provides a great workout and a competitive yet friendly atmosphere for players looking to stay active and engaged in the sport.

Grade Levels: Kindergarten through 2nd

Teams: Teams assigned based on school district

Equipment Provided: Flag belt, Flags, and Jersey 

Equipment Needed: Cleats, Soft-shell helmet, and a mouthguard 

Practices: 2 practices a week for 60-90 minutes per practice 

Where: Cosmo Park

When: August-November

Recreation Tackle Football

Recreation tackle football is a great way for players of all skill levels to enjoy the game in a fun, relaxed environment. It’s a great way to socialize, relieve stress, and enjoy the thrill of the sport while maintaining a balance between competition and enjoyment. With an emphasis on sportsmanship, recreational football ensures that everyone, regardless of experience, can participate and have a great time.

Grade Levels: 3rd through 6th

Teams: Teams assigned based on school district 

Equipment Provided: Jersey, Helmet, Shoulder pads, and Practice pants

Equipment Needed: Cleats, mouthguard, and practice jersey

Practices: 2-3 days a week for 1.5-2 hours per practice

Where: Cosmo Park, games at participating cities: Jefferson City, Sedalia, Marshall

When: August- November
